Journal 4- Daguerreotype that has science involved
This is a daguerreotype of a solar eclipse. It is neat because it looks almost like a photo-gram. This was taken in 1851 and was an 84 second long exposure and used a telescope to help capture the this amazing daguerreotype photo. As you can see it is a total eclipse. This reminds me of the first picture taken of the moon using the same process . . . with a telescope and all. It is hard to find a daguerreotype that is not a portrait. Portraits seem to be so much more a popular thing; I suppose it is because people had never had a chance to have a photo to remember family members by, which seemed to be a common thing.
