Romantic Era painting and photo
The similarities between these two pictures is that they have a softer feel to them. The photo looks like a drawing, and painting looks like a photo. The reason the photo is so soft looking is because the gains in the photo are farther apart than they are in today's film photos. Of course, a difference is that the photos of the day could not be in color like the paintings. The paintings of the day did so well on facial details and making them look like a face in a photograph. The lighting in both is always soft also to help give it that soft look.
